5 - PROGRAM / SERVICE / ACTIVITY PURPOSES
Over one year older people practice different physical movements/exercises, sports and techniques such as spinal gymnastics, Nordic walking, ball games, dances, relaxation techniques, hiking, self-created games, group and adventure games. Every month the participants organize themselves full-time activities, joy of movement and enjoyment of social contacts are in the foreground.

The aim of the exercise and activity program is to learn to know yourself, others and the environment. The aim is to increase well-being, support the motivation and the fun factor of the older participants. By practicing exercise on a regular basis participants will increase their autonomy, their independence and will strengthen the self-efficacy and improve the joy of life.

6 - RESOURCES
a.- Which materials were used?
A handbook for physical training conductors was developed.
b.- Who conducted the program / service activity? (What role, what qualifications, etc.)
The program is financed by the Austrian state initiative “Fit für Österreich” (fit for Austria) and the Fonds Gesundes Österreich (FGÖ – Funds for a healthy Austria). The physical exercise program is implemented in six Austrian regions (Vienna, Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Salzburg, Carinthia, Styria). The program is implemented in associations by special trained (ie motogeragogy) physical conductors.

7 - METHODOLOGY USED (presentations, pair work, group work, peers, mentors, blended
learning, e-learning, etc.)
The physical exercise program is basing on the concept of motogergagy (Motogeragogik) and the psychomotor domain (with seniors) aiming at physical activity in order to improve behavioural autonomy but also to preserve satisfaction of life. With physical exercises the psychomotor strengthens personality. Moreover the program has participative elements in order to promote social contacts.

The program is for everyone because the chosen activities are adapted by the composition of the group of participants. The methodology of each course unit (beginning to the end) has a meaningful format and creates a feeling of well-being after 60 minutes.
The program includes single, pair and group exercises and contributes to joy, motivation and group dynamic. For this the lecturer shows the exercises and gives individual support.

8 - PROGRAM / SERVICE / ACTIVITY SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The homepage describes some examples by posing these questions:

• “Haben Sie zu Beispiel einmal eine Zeitungsmauer durchlaufen oder aus Moosgummibällen ein Gymnastikgerät gebaut? Möchten Sie erfahren, wie es ist, gemeinsam in der Gruppe an einer Abenteuerexpedition teilzunehmen? Wollten Sie schon immer neue Entspannungstechniken ausprobieren oder einen lustigen Gruppentanz einstudieren?“ (source: www.jungaltwerden.at)

• Own translation: „Did you ever have tried to run through a wall of newspapers or a gymnastic device made of foam rubber balls? Did you wanted to know how it is to jointly participate in the adventure of a group of expedition? Did you ever practiced new relaxation techniques or a funny group dance?”

Each course has two exercise units, each lasting 60 minutes per week over a time period of 45 weeks within a full year. In addition to the units there is an activity (half-day or full day activity) which is organised by one participant on a monthly basis. For this social event, 2-3 older participants are chosen for finding ideas, organisation and implementation of this activity (for which the training lecturer is available if needed).

Each participant can influence the content of each unit. In the beginning everyone can articulate his/her expectations, wishes, interests, and personal aims which will be discussed. These build an element for the course creation.

Each unit has its own motto – it is connected with a specific aim. In total eleven areas are covered in the one year course. These are: body experience, perception training, sensorimotor actin, mobility, everyday motor skills, musculoskeletal functioning, sports games for aged, singing and dancing games, Nordic walking, outdoor games, yoga relaxation exercises.
