5 - PROGRAM / SERVICE / ACTIVITY PURPOSES
Health is seen as a holistic status of physical, mental and social well-being, especially the subjective experience of health. Mental health and fitness as a state of wellbeing is based on a positive sense of self, deployment of own skills/competencies and a resourceful handling with conflict and strain. Hence the agese project aims to promote mental health – and its strong interconnections with social health – in a group of individuals which is highly demanded by a psycho-social load, ie migrants, women, mothers and grandmothers (who have a low socio-economic status). Therefore, agese aims to empower these group of femals and contribute to more equity in health.

In terms of determinants of health this group is especially disadvantaged because they are women/mothers with low education, traditional way of socialisation, bad German language skills, low prestige, lot of children, social isolation. In relation to psycho-social health the target group especially vulnerable, eg social roles, external determination of behaviour, low self-esteem, low life satisfaction, depressive feelings.

6 - RESOURCES
a.- Which materials were used?
Specially developed information material in order to promote the mental health literacy.
b.- Who conducted the program / service activity? (What role, what qualifications, etc.)
The program was developed in 2012 by the association beratungsgruppe.at and was implemented in six month by reaching 150 participants in Vienna and municipalities in Lower Austria.

7 - METHODOLOGY USED (presentations, pair work, group work, peers, mentors, blended
learning, e-learning, etc.)
The overall aim of the project is health education, ie transfer of knowledge and information in order to promote mental health, psycho-social well-being, sensitizing participants for health related behavioural change. A concrete aim is a contribution to an improved mental health literacy (ie health knowledge and skills in relation to psycho-social health and its determinants), sensitizing the relationships between the own behaviour, life style choices, living situation and context, information about practical and existing services, information and organisations, and the empowerment.

The project is actively seeking out the target groups my contacting them in her private homes by specially educated, trained multiplicators (tutors) who are close to the target group themselves (migrant background) and by the use of special designed Information material. The implemented methodology is oriented on recommendations: WHO service organization pyramid for an optimal mix of services for mental health (WHO, 2009: Improving health systems and services for mental health. Geneva. pp. 23f.):
• Outreach approach (private homes)
• Information material without/low threshold (information source)
• Assistance/mentoring in domestic setting/group of mothers (conficende building)
• Empowerment

8 - PROGRAM / SERVICE / ACTIVITY SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
