5 - PROGRAM / SERVICE / ACTIVITY PURPOSES
General
To promote a social model complementary to the residential model for attending older people living in rural areas, at the same time realistic with respect to the ageing process, emphasizing the importance of early prevention, intergenerational approach and a more active, committed and caring role by all the people living in the same environment, underlining also job opportunities and population retention.

Specific
- To improve the quality of life and well-being of older people living in rural areas.
- To foster the interrelations between different generations.
- To promote spaces and situations for exchanging experiences, knowledge and awareness on the immaterial heritage, by innovative actions
- To contribute to the exchange of experiences for the benefit of the population.
- To achieve older people’s personal self-esteem by making other groups to participate in their experience and skills.
- To preserve older people’s physical and intellectual vigour through the elaboration and implementation of activities.
- To demonstrate the efficacy and effectiveness of the attention to older people in their own territory compared to other kind of attention in institutions.
- To demonstrate higher level of satisfaction in older people ageing in their own village, at their home, than those who do it in institutions, provided that they are attended by people who care for them, as professionals from their own area can be, and who do it properly.

6 - RESOURCES
a.- Which materials were used?
Classroom with a projector. Specific printed material, images and videos.
b.- Who conducted the program / service activity? (What role, what qualifications, etc.)
The work done the previous year had been centred on the training of 35 working-age women in the field of socio-health care; the team of instructors that managed the active ageing activities came from these women.

7 - METHODOLOGY USED (presentations, pair work, group work, peers, mentors, blended
learning, e-learning, etc.)
It is a workshop where the instructor plays a fundamental role, for she must stimulate the group and promote their self-esteem, while they are carrying out the different activities. Work is done on the different kinds of memory and this allows them to do varied exercises with the support of photocopies, images and videos. Memory workshops turn out to be, on a personal level, very gratifying, because a link between the instructor and the students is established. Trust is increased as time goes by.

8 - PROGRAM / SERVICE / ACTIVITY SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
It is a broad program for intervention in a series of villages in a Galician district (A Limia). The activities, aimed at favouring the Active Ageing, that have been carried out are a Keep-fit workshop, a Craft workshop and a Memory workshop.
At a first stage, sessions of visits to the territory were established, the instructors participating, in charge of the development of the activities in the district, and the possibilities of revitalization of the area were selected. Target population centres were selected, it was organized the animation of the participants and their involvement in the project, the transport services, given the dispersal of the territory, the organization of the premises where the different activities would be carried out and the arrangement of these premises and the material needed for developing the activities.

The program specific to the Memory workshop aimed at improving the cognitive maintenance and stimulation has encompassed the following work areas:
- Sensorial memory (visual, auditory, tactile).
- Explicit memory: In the short term and in the long term: Episodic (recent and distant events) and Semantic (learned knowledge).
- Implicit memory.
The contents of the activities carried out have been: calculation, attention, reasoning, spatial orientation, linguistic factors, exercises related to with sensorial memory, executive functions (seriation, planning, categorization), PowerPoint adapted slides (photographs of known places, photographs of the own participants, exercises also adapted) and slides of healthy habits.
- Spatial-temporal orientation

Temporal orientation has been working on through exercises related with important dates and festivities, etc. On spatial orientation, tasks of drawing maps of known places, with geographical maps, were carried out. The student describes verbally how to get to certain places.

- Language exercises

Fluency, narration... All the exercises have been made always in writing through the description of photos or scenes. For improving language they did exercises about synonyms and antonyms, incomplete or disordered words, incomplete sayings, crosswords, etc.

- Long term and short term memory

For the stimulation of the long-term memory they did exercises of remembering historical dates, autobiographical memories, i.e. stories about important events in the life of the participants... others have been focused on recalling important historic personages through the presentation of photos, etc.

- Mental calculation exercises

They included the realization of activities such as finding sequences of numbers, use of the four basic rules, ...

- Attention exercises

Mainly gesture, visual attention, auditory attention and verbal reasoning exercises, among others.

Overall, tasks were carried out with printed material, through images and video projection, using PowerPoint with our own photos of the territory. For the stimulation of the tactile memory different objects were used and also colours combined with visual attention tasks.
