5 - PROGRAM / SERVICE / ACTIVITY PURPOSES
Their main aims are:
- to implement research activities in order to develop the knowledge of mental mechanisms and attitudes. They operate in order to identify and describe methodologies and techniques able to increase mental efficiency
- to promote within the different social contexts, the use of strategies and the introduction of suitable lifestyles to support a correct culture and mental wellbeing
- to activate a Service of Psychological and Socio-healthcare Counselling able to give information and support to increase mental abilities and prevent mental decline
- to train different operators that for any reason are engaged in the preservation of mental attitudes of the population
Activities:
This Association promotes the following different activities:
- cultural activities: conferences, seminars, debates, videos and documentaries, meetings with experts in the psychosocial and socio-healthcare sector
- research: establishment of study groups and research activities, also for other public or private institutions, in order to identify the methodologies and techniques for the prevention of mental decline and promote the development of mental abilities
- training opportunities; plan and manage theoretical /practical training and updating courses for psychosocial and socio-healthcare operators and for personal trainers on the methodologies of intervention for mental wellbeing.
- publishing activities; publishing a magazine specific on the improvement of metal skills; publishing of conferences, seminars documentation and results as well as studies and research results – both in paper and on the web site

7 - METHODOLOGY USED (presentations, pair work, group work, peers, mentors, blended
learning, e-learning, etc.)
In line with its aims, Assomensana has elaborated a program of cognitive training , a real mental gym® that keeps at a constant level all mental agility, flexibility and performances. It trains and enhances the mind as well as aerobics activates muscles and helps the coordination and flexibility of your body. Gymnastic stimulates a variety of mental functions:
attention, concentration, memory, logic, reasoning, calculation, imagination, creativity, space and time orienteering, verbal fluency, building up sentences, reflexes speed, etc.
This kind of mental gym is targeting all ages, gender, cultural and social levels. It is organized in groups once a week.
All exercises are directly proposed by a psychologist through A4 coloured and plasticized templates, that contain texts or drawings that could stimulate different cognitive functions.

8 - PROGRAM / SERVICE / ACTIVITY SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Assomensana is an Association of neuro - psychologists established in 2004 that , since then, is engaged in mental anti-aging research and its implementations. They offer the possibility to all persons to know and put into practice techniques to improve cognitive capacities and to prevent mental ageing. They organize many different initiatives and events to make people aware of the many possibilities to maintain mental fitness at any age. They organize Mental Fitness courses for private and public institutions and, lately, they have also given their services to companies and firms. In short, the mainly organize cultural activities, researches, training opportunities, publishing activities and various events.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
We live in an era without precedent, in which a human being can actually hope to achieve his biological design: to live more than 100 years.
Thanks to bio-medical research, to economic, social and technological, every year our life is extended from 3 to 4 months, 1 year as if it were not more than 12 months but could only reach 15-16 months. In this new calendar, the months are 12 useful advancing age of the person, the other 3-4 months determine the lengthening of life expectancy.
Live a long time is not always equivalent to living well: the lengthening of life in fact, also brings with it the progressive aging of the population.
It is estimated that over the next 30 years, people aged over 55 years will be 46% of the population, as if to say that 1 in 2 will have more than 55 years.
The steady increase in the average determines the increased incidence of neurodegenerative diseases associated with aging: dementia and Alzheimer's disease in severe cases, but more frequently reduced attention span, concentration, memory, reasoning, calculation, logic ... At the same time, the incidence of dementia increases with age: from 5% to 75 years to over 20% for those with more than 85 years, to reach 40% after 90 years.
Above certain levels, these disorders also determine a high social cost. In fact, the progressive aging of the population brings with it an increase of neurodegenerative diseases. The fastest growing segment of the population is made up of people aged over 55 years, from the current 30% in 2005, will go to 46% in 2035.
Given the statistic, we need to identify and implement as soon as possible strategies for prevention, anti-aging, such as to counteract or delay the onset of these diseases.Medicine and neuropsychology in particular have studied and developed, over time, strategies to improve cognitive performance, preventing and delaying the onset of cognitive decline due to aging. In this way you can help to improve the living conditions of the elderly and of his family, driving away the fear of losing mental clarity (which from a recent social survey is considered by the root cause of over 60 feel old).
Therefore, today more and more people can live a long time not only in excellent health and fitness, but also, and especially, in the fullness of their mental abilities, training the mind to be agile, active and reactive, thus counteracting aging.
